Despite the many people that barely new anything about Uruguay going into the World Cup, Diego Forlan, the star striker for the Celeste, has been awarded the Golden Ball award. This award is given to the best player of the tournament as voted by the world media. People will surely pay attention to Uruguay now, as the team also finished in the fourth place (the final South American team in the tournament). Forlan beat out Wesley Sneijder and David Villa, who both played in the final on Sunday, due to his ridiculous consistency as both a goal scorer and a play maker, routinely dropping into the midfield to create for the players around him.
